The late September round covered tags through September 30. Since then: 88 releases across eleven products, plus three repositories that appear in a round for the first time.
This round was about the people using the apps, not the people building agents. All four of our Mac apps now update themselves. Octoweb became a mail client. Vext can answer questions during a meeting. Octomind lets you sign in with the ChatGPT plan you already pay for, and installs on Windows.

Tagged October 1 through October 23. Two of Octolib's tags, 0.41.4 and 0.41.5, never reached crates.io; their fixes shipped in 0.41.6. Seven of OctoHub's fifteen are dependency updates. Outside the eleven: Yoda 2.5, Octomind Action v2 and the first tag of mcp-binance-futures, covered near the end.
Four Mac apps, one way to update
Octoweb 0.19, Vext 1.7.0, Timex 1.7.0 and TypeTab 1.2.0 were tagged within a minute of each other on October 23, and each one ships with Sparkle, the update framework many Mac apps outside the App Store use.
One last update by hand. None of the previous versions had an updater, so you install these four yourself: from each app's site, or with Homebrew. From then on, each app checks once a day and downloads in the background. Every update is signed with a key that only we hold, and the app verifies that signature before it installs anything.
They don't interrupt you. Vext, Timex and TypeTab install when you quit them, or once they're idle and you've been away from the keyboard and mouse for ten minutes, so nothing lands in the middle of a dictation, a meeting recording or a model training run. Octoweb never relaunches on its own; it installs the next time you quit it.
Your license still decides. The paid apps skip any update past the major version your license covers. Upgrading to a new major remains your call.
The check itself is one request a day to the app's own website, carrying the app's version and nothing about you. You can turn it off in each app's Settings.
Octoweb 0.17 → 0.19 — the browser reads your mail
github.com/muvon/octoweb · 4 releases · 0.17 notes · 0.18 notes · 0.19 notes
0.17.0 made Octoweb a mail client. It reads Gmail and Google Workspace, iCloud, Outlook and Microsoft 365 (through an app you register yourself), Namecheap Private Email and any IMAP server. Mail splits into Important and Other, with an optional screener that holds mail from new senders until you accept them, single-key triage, snooze, undo send, send later and local full-text search. Mail AI stays off until you turn it on. The same release added per-workspace markdown notes, Chrome Web Store extensions (macOS 15.4 or later), and terminals that come back after a restart with their tabs, splits and working directories.
Two shortcuts moved in 0.17: ⌘⇧I now opens Mail and Web Inspector moved to ⌥⌘I. In 0.18, Tab in Notes switches between the Notes and Mail tabs instead of indenting.
0.18.0 writes replies with you. Write or Refine with AI (⌘J) drafts in the reply box. Summaries and replies run on two specialists that have no tools at all, so a message that tries to give the AI instructions has nothing to call. 0.18.1 added spam-folder actions.
0.19 asks before a site uses your camera, microphone or location. Until now, any site could use the camera and microphone once macOS had allowed Octoweb, and location didn't work at all. Now a prompt under the address bar asks, Allow and Block are remembered per site, and a red chip pauses or stops a camera that's on. Mail search reaches every account's servers as you type, filters included, so from:anna before:2025-01-01 finds mail older than the 90 days Octoweb syncs. Ask AI and the daily brief, the last two mail jobs on the full assistant, moved to the tool-free mail reader, and the sidebar shows a specialist's work while it runs (with octomind 0.59 or later).
0.19 is Apple Silicon only. There is no Intel build; Intel Macs stay on 0.18.1. Upgrade with brew upgrade --cask octoweb and update octomind with it.
Vext 1.6 → 1.7 — answers during the meeting
getvext.app · 2 releases · 1.6.0 notes · 1.7.0 notes
Vext 1.6.0 (October 4) added Voice Edit, Apple Intelligence as an on-device AI provider on macOS 26, and Ask your meetings, which answers from your recorded meetings and quotes its sources word for word. Cancelled dictations can be recovered for ten minutes, and a meeting recording survives a crash. Three defaults changed for existing installs too: hands-free dictation stops after a minute of silence, short chat messages drop the final period, and a saved meeting shows a notification instead of opening its window.
1.7.0 adds Meeting Assist. Open it from the notes panel's new Assist tab, the Assist… menu bar item or a shortcut, then pick one of seven actions, such as What should I say?, Catch me up or Check a claim against sources, or type your own question. Answers stream in, and every quote in them is checked against the transcript and your references: if one isn't there, the whole answer is dropped. Suggested questions are found on your Mac, and nothing goes to the AI until you click. A file, the front window or a screen region can join as a reference, each previewed before it's used and never saved with the meeting. Assist also works with no meeting at all, in a panel marked Audio off that records nothing.
Timex 1.6 → 1.7 — projects, breaks that wait, energy that learns
gettimex.app · 2 releases · 1.7.0 notes
Timex 1.6.0 (October 5) shipped without a post, and it was the bigger of the two. Breaks wait for a better moment: Smart timing, on by default, holds a due break until a call ends, up to ten minutes behind a fullscreen app, and up to a minute while you type, and the warning banner gained +5 min and Start now. Focus sessions of 25, 50 or 90 minutes put a countdown in the menu bar and hold breaks until they end, and tracking pauses can now end on a timer. Projects sort time by what it was for, a client or a product, with rules on the window title or URL that apply to past time too; they aren't in the exports yet. Energy adapts to you: the capacity slider is gone, capacity follows your recent workload within 10% of four hours, and optional check-ins teach Timex how demanding your categories are. 1.6.0 also added a daily focus goal, a weekly review, and a limit on how long window titles and URLs are kept. 1.7.0 adds the updater.
TypeTab 1.2.0 — snippets, and finally a release
typetab.app · 1 release · 1.2.0 notes
1.2.0 adds snippets: type an abbreviation and its expansion appears as ghost text, with JSON import and export. Suggestions gained controls for delay, length and how many characters to wait for, Ctrl+] asks for a different one, and they stay out of address bars, search fields and command palettes. A global pause key (Ctrl+Option+T), Pause Learning and Forget Last Hour or Forget Today put you in charge of what it learns, and terminals, code editors and password managers now start with suggestions and learning off. When suggestions stop, the menu bar says why. The rest of 1.2.0, the Stats pane and the per-app switches, is in the September post.
A correction. The last round counted TypeTab 1.2.0 as released on September 5 and said an earlier round had missed it. September 5 was when typetab.app announced the version; the build itself shipped with the tag on October 23. Until then, the site and Homebrew still served 1.1.0.
Octomind 0.56 → 0.60.1 — your ChatGPT plan, Windows, and subagents you can watch
github.com/muvon/octomind · 19 releases · full changelog
Sign in with ChatGPT. Since 0.56.0, octomind login chatgpt uses the ChatGPT plan you already pay for, with no API key; models are then addressed as chatgpt:<model>. It works in the CLI, not in Octomind Cloud. The 0.56.0 post has the details, and 0.57.1 and 0.57.3 fixed session validation and token refresh in sandboxed runs.
Quote an earlier reply. 0.57.0 added /reply, /reply 2 and /reply <words>, which quote a previous answer into your next prompt; Tab opens a picker. The 0.57.0 notes show it in use.
One place for quick decisions — a breaking config change. 0.58.0 moves every decision-model setting into a top-level [decision] section. Your config migrates from version 21 to 22 on first run. The six old supervisor switches become one supervisor switch, and if any of them was on, the new one is on, which routes every supervisor decision, not just the one you had enabled. If the old and new sections conflict, the upgrade stops before writing and names the conflict; fix it and run octomind config --validate. The 0.58.0 post walks through it.
Rules you state hold. In 0.58.5, standing rules you give the agent survive context compaction and a resumed session; a new session starts empty. Lessons are now keyed to the nearest repository root, and old lessons are not migrated. The 0.58.5 notes give the limits.
Native Windows. 0.58.8 installs on Windows with a PowerShell one-liner or from our new Scoop bucket, which also carries OctoHub, Octofs, Octocode and Octobrain. 0.59.0 fixed an ACP hang on Windows.
Watch subagents work. In 0.59.0, subagent steps stream live over WebSocket and replay when you reconnect; Octomind Cloud's new Watch button uses that stream. octomind config --validate now reports unknown or ignored keys and exits non-zero. Three behavior changes come with 0.59.0: subagent output no longer arrives as the parent's frames, --format accepts only plain or jsonl, and /model needs a provider prefix. The 0.59.0 post lists them.
Sessions survive a dropped connection. 0.60.0 lets a WebSocket client reconnect to a running session: missed frames replay and the running turn keeps going. Provider retries now show up in the CLI, ACP, WebSocket and workflow clients.

Octomind Cloud, briefly
On October 15, Cloud learned to bring your agent over: import memories, instructions, skills and scheduled jobs from ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw or Hermes (API keys are never imported). Routines can start from a URL, every run can carry a spending cap, octos get their own email addresses, and there's a Discord bot and seven new image and video models. On October 21, the conversation view gained the Watch button for subagent logs.
Octofs 0.16.2 → 0.19.0 — the shell says no
github.com/muvon/octofs · 8 releases · 0.19.0 release
0.19.0 is a breaking change. The default --hint-mode is now hard: a shell command that starts with cat, grep, find or ls, uses sed -i, or writes into the working directory is rejected without running, and the error names the dedicated tool to use. Before, it ran with a warning. If your model keeps re-sending blocked commands, start the server with --hint-mode soft.
Earlier in the range: 0.16.3 isolates state per client session, 0.17.0 digests large shell output, and 0.18.0 runs long shell jobs as MCP background tasks with progress and a stop command, preserving Windows quoting.
cargo install octofs --version 0.19.0
Octolib 0.41 → 0.45.1 and OctoHub 0.9.5 → 0.13.0 — more models, your own keys
github.com/muvon/octolib · 26 tags · github.com/muvon/octohub · 15 releases
Octolib 0.41.0 added the ChatGPT Responses API and sign-in that Octomind's chatgpt: route runs on, then a run of ChatGPT fixes. It also removed the Together embedding provider and several old model names; Octocode 0.26.5 dropped Together too. New models in the range: Claude Haiku 5.5, Mistral Large 4, Gemini 4, MiniMax M3.1 Flash Preview, and media generation through Higgsfield. 0.43.0 added WebWright, an OpenAI-compatible provider. 0.44.0 accepts an API key per call, kept out of logs and errors, and 0.45.0 reports each retry with its cause and honors Retry-After.
OctoHub builds on the per-call keys. 0.11.0 lists its models at GET /v1/models. 0.12.0 stores owners' own provider keys encrypted (AES-GCM) and routes across them with failover. 0.12.1 routes a turn only to aliases that can handle its images or video, and 0.13.0 shuts down gracefully.
Octocode, Octobrain, Synx
- Octocode 0.26.5 → 0.27.0 (release): Metal acceleration on by default on macOS (0.26.6); MCP requests routed by the session's directory, so one server serves a repository and its child projects separately (0.26.7); commit co-author trailers configurable with
commits.co_authored_by(0.27.0). - Octobrain 0.14.5 → 0.14.8 (release): Metal on by default (0.14.6) and memory scoped to each session's working directory (0.14.7); the rest is maintenance.
- Synx 0.1.5 → 0.1.7 (release): three sync-safety fixes. Local Git changes are protected during replay, retained paths survive a sync deletion, and rename pairing no longer matches stale events.
cargo install octocode --version 0.27.0
cargo install octobrain --version 0.14.8
cargo install synx --version 0.1.7

One sweep: every MCP server learned whose session it's in
On October 11, five repositories shipped the same idea. Octomind 0.57.2 scopes MCP caches and prompt caching per session, Octofs 0.16.3 isolates state per client session, Octocode 0.26.7 routes by session directory, Octobrain 0.14.7 scopes memory per session, and Octolib 0.41.12 derives readable project scopes. One running server can now serve agent sessions in different projects without mixing their state.
Holding, on purpose
Pulsora, Octomind Tap and Vanga had no tagged release. Octomind Tap moved on master all the same, with a Cloudflare remote browser, DeepSeek web search and two new workflows.

Last round we started measuring the person on the other side of the agent. This one went to the person on the other side of the app: fewer updates to remember, mail in the browser, answers in the meeting. If a release still leaves a gap in your day, open an issue on the project's GitHub repository and tell us where.
